Leopold Morse Home for the Aged and Infirm Hebrews and Orphanage
Leopold Morse Home postcard

Situated on Blue Hills Parkway in the "Mattapan" section of Milton, the 32-room mansion shown was originally built for Walter Connell in 1831.  From 1889-1912 the mansion was operated as the Morse Home; so named in honor of Leopold Morse, the first Jew elected to the United States Congress from Massachusetts.  When the Home was demolished in 1919 to make way for the Briarfield Subdivision, two of its large columns were saved and installed on a two-family residence at 542 Eliot Street.
