Rising Sun Inn
The Rising Sun Inn, Gordons Corner, Milton Hill

Although originally called the Vose Tavern when built in 1767, it was operated as the 'Rising Sun Tavern' under the ownership of Moses Whitney. When Whitney remodeled the property in 1840, he gave the old tavern sign to carpenter William Billings of Canton who gave it to Elijah Morse who adopted the "Rising Sun" image as the trademark for his world famous stove polish.  Today Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home is located on the site of the old tavern.
